Project for Knit 1 class
Beginning knit class

If you are thinking about giving knitting a try, join Kathi at Paper Habit for a Knit 1 class. You will learn how to cast on, knit a basic stitch and cast off at the end. You will make a cowl that will be perfect for yourself or as a gift. Your yarn and needles will be supplied.

Beginner Sweater

Join me to make the Waves of Change pullover sweater. This is an easy top down sweater with simple knit and purl stitches. It fits all body types and you can adjust the length while knitting. This is a 4 lesson class and we will meet every other week in order to finish the project. You will need to buy your pattern before class starts.

Easy Scarf

Join us for a fun and relaxing class where you’ll create your own cozy scarf. This project is easy enough for beginners—but fun enough for experienced knitters. We’ll cover all the basics, including how to cast on, knit simple stitches, and do Jeny's Surprisingly Stretchy Bind off. By the end, you’ll have a beautiful scarf to wear or gift and the skills to tackle new projects.

Beginner Poncho

Join Kathi to knit a stylish and cozy poncho. This class is perfect for knitters who already know the basics and want to build their skills. You'll learn how to read a pattern while working on an easy, wearable design—with the option to choose either a classic straight neck or a cozy cowl neck.

Felted Slippers

Learn to knit and felt your own cozy slippers in this beginner-friendly class. This simple pattern is perfect for knitters looking to build confidence while making something practical and fun. You'll knit a pair of slippers in class, then learn how to felt them for a warm, cozy fit. We will be using yarn that is made specifically for this pattern.

You'll learn basic techniques like brush handling, color mixing, and how much water to use. We'll explore simple florals and guide you through the process. By the end of the class, you'll feel confident creating your own watercolor pieces.

This is not a repeat of last month—come explore new floral compositions and color blends in a relaxed, creative setting. All materials are provided, so just bring your enthusiasm.

Join us for The Weekly Stitch, a welcoming knitting group where we work on projects chosen together as a class. Each session offers the opportunity to learn new skills, share ideas, and knit alongside fellow enthusiasts. If the group project isn’t your style, you’re always welcome to bring your own project to work on. Watercolor Landscapes

Capture the beauty of nature in this relaxing Watercolor Landscapes class. Designed for the watercolor beginner, this class will guide you through techniques for painting skies, trees, water, and distant hills with soft, flowing brushstrokes.

Take your watercolor skills to the next level in our Watercolor 2 class. Designed for those who have taken Watercolor 1, this class dives deeper into techniques such as glazing. You'll be painting a traditional still life, white flowers, a bird and a nighttime snow scene. With personalized guidance, you'll refine your technique and develop your unique artistic style.

Cancelation Policy

Q: What happens if I have to cancel after I have paid?

A: If you are unable to attend,  you will get store credit if the cancellation is made more than 1 week prior to the course date. (instructors have to purchase supplies) No refunds of any kind are available for cancellations made within 1 week prior to the course date. In lieu of attending, you can also choose to transfer your spot to a friend, but must notify us in advance.

Q: What if Paper Habit cancels my class?

A: In the event Paper Habit has to cancel a workshop due to low enrollment, or instructor illness, you will receive a 100% refund for the workshop in the form of your original payment. Or, you can opt for a credit towards another class. Class cancellations usually happen 48 hours in advance. In some specials cases, classes can be cancelled less than 24 hours in advance.

Q: Who can take a workshop? Can I bring my kids?

A: Unless otherwise noted in the workshop description, our workshops are suitable for students 14 years of age and older.  Please call the shop at 209-567-0605 with any questions.

Q: Is there a wait list for workshops?

A: In the event that a Paper Habit workshop is sold out, you can request to be added to the wait list in case there are cancellations. Please call the shop or email paperhabit@gmail.com to be put on the wait list. Adding your name to the wait list does not guarantee you will be able to attend the workshop. If a space in a workshop opens up, we will give you a call to confirm you can attend. You will be notified 24 hours in advance.
