Beginning knit class
If you are thinking about giving knitting a try, join Kathi at Paper Habit for a Knit 1 class. You will learn how to cast on, knit a basic stitch and cast off at the end. You will make a cowl that will be perfect for yourself or as a gift. Your yarn and needles will be supplied.
Easy Scarf
Join us for an infinity scarf class. This project is easy enough for beginners—but fun enough for experienced knitters. We’ll cover all the basics, including how to cast on, join in the round, knit and purl stitches, and do Jeny's Surprisingly Stretchy Bind off.
paint by number
Looking for a creative reason to get out and connect? Join us for our Paint by Number Class and enjoy painting together in a relaxed, welcoming space. This is all about slowing down, visiting with others, and creating side by side—no experience needed. Your paint-by-number canvas, paints, and brushes are all included, so just come as you are and enjoy a cozy, creative time with friends (new and old!).
Knit a Poncho
Join me to knit a Plaid Poncho—a beautifully simple design that packs a lot of punch. Our four-lesson class meets once a week, giving you the guidance and steady pace you need to finish your poncho with confidence. And of course, our shop has everything you need to get started—from yarn to needles—so you can dive right in.
Simple Sweater
The Topaz Cardigan is a timeless, cozy knit that’s perfect for everyone—from 6-month babies all the way up to adults. This class is a great next step for knitters who are comfortable with knit and purl stitches and are ready to build confidence shaping a real garment. You’ll learn how to follow a pattern, work simple shaping, and understand garment construction so your cardigan fits just right. You will need to purchase your pattern before class.
beginning watercolor
Discover the joy of watercolor painting in our beginner class. This class is perfect for those with little to no experience. You'll learn basic techniques like brush handling, color mixing, and how much water to use. We'll explore simple florals and guide you through the process. By the end of the class, you'll feel confident creating your own watercolor pieces.
Pet Portraits
Turn your favorite furry (or feathered!) friend into a beautiful watercolor portrait. In this special workshop, you’ll learn how to transform a photo of your pet into a one-of-a-kind painting full of personality and charm. Before class, simply email us a clear photo of the pet you’d like to paint.

So you know a little about watercolor painting and you want more experience? Join us to socialize and learn more tips and tricks of watercolor painting. You will learn different techniques and make something every week. This is a 4 week class meeting once a week and all materials will be provided. You must have taken Beginning Watercolor or have painting experience to join us.
Spring Watercolor 1
Capture the beauty of spring blooms in watercolor! Build on your basic skills as you explore color blending, layering, and composition to create loose, vibrant florals. This class is for those who have taken our Beginner Watercolor class or already have painting experience. All materials are provided.
Spring Watercolor 2
Celebrate the arrival of spring with Kathi as she guides you through the art of creating vibrant spring bouquets. Join us weekly for a delightful painting experience, where all materials will be provided. To participate, make sure you've attended a watercolor class at our store previously. Let the colors of spring blossom on your paper under Kathi's expert guidance. See you there!
felted slippers
Learn to knit and felt your own cozy slippers in this beginner-friendly class! This simple pattern is perfect for newer knitters looking to build confidence while making something practical and fun. You'll knit a pair of slippers in class, then learn how to felt them for a warm, custom fit.
Knit a sock
Learn the art of knitting your very own pair of socks. Join our three-lesson class where you'll delve into the intricacies of crafting a simple sock pattern. Discover the techniques of fitting the sock to your foot, adjusting the size, and mastering the art of turning a heel. All the supplies you need, including high-quality yarn and needles, are available for purchase at our store. Let's knit together.
Cancelation Policy
Q: What happens if I have to cancel after I have paid?
A: If you are unable to attend, you will get store credit if the cancellation is made more than 1 week prior to the course date. (instructors have to purchase supplies) No refunds of any kind are available for cancellations made within 1 week prior to the course date. In lieu of attending, you can also choose to transfer your spot to a friend, but must notify us in advance.
Q: What if Paper Habit cancels my class?
A: In the event Paper Habit has to cancel a workshop due to low enrollment, or instructor illness, you will receive a 100% refund for the workshop in the form of your original payment. Or, you can opt for a credit towards another class. Class cancellations usually happen 48 hours in advance. In some specials cases, classes can be cancelled less than 24 hours in advance.
Q: Who can take a workshop? Can I bring my kids?
A: Unless otherwise noted in the workshop description, our workshops are suitable for students 14 years of age and older. Please call the shop at 209-567-0605 with any questions.
Q: Is there a wait list for workshops?
A: In the event that a Paper Habit workshop is sold out, you can request to be added to the wait list in case there are cancellations. Please call the shop or email paperhabit@gmail.com to be put on the wait list. Adding your name to the wait list does not guarantee you will be able to attend the workshop. If a space in a workshop opens up, we will give you a call to confirm you can attend. You will be notified 24 hours in advance.
